Listen To God

 Life has no bearings until one's direction is known. Samuel never know purpose until they was a divine utterance.  Samuel was one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that his first assignment from God was to listen for God’s voice (see 1 Sam. 3:8-10). Samuel’s story shows us that there’s a difference between active listening and passive hearing. Hearing is something we do with our ears. If our hearing is normal, we can’t help hearing sounds traveling within a certain range. Listening, however, involves the mind. Genuine listening is active. It involves putting the mind in gear to hear everything that’s said as if it has meaning to the listener. That’s how God calls us to listen to Him: actively. He wants our full and undivided attention. Let’s take a look at what I believe are the 10 key aspects of listening actively: 1. The Will Of God

Step I: Often time we hear repeatedly that the Lord has a plan for us—and it’s good. We’re instructed to seek it, embrace it, and live it. We’re even told it’s the key to our future. But what is it? Even though God’s will sounds like something we need to know, the whole idea of it often stirs up more questions than answers. Whatever your view of the will of God, it can seem grand and unreachable, can’t it? After my few years in ministry, I’ve heard enough people talk about how frustrated they are in their Christian lives that I’m fully persuaded there’s one ultimate reason: They don’t understand the nature of the will of God, nor do they know how to find it. And if you don’t understand these two things, you may feel insecure and directionless in your walk with God.  Perhaps you want to honor your Savior and stay on track with what He envisions for your life.
